Professional Development
CIEE is an NGO that has been providing study abroad, teach abroad, high school study, and gap year programs; international faculty development seminars; summer work and travel exchanges; internships; professional training programs; and volunteer opportunities for over 65 years. IFDS offers faculty and administrators access to academics, diverse intercultural experiences, and innovative approaches to learning and problem-solving needed to enhance curricula and stimulate international awareness and global understanding on your campus. CIEE offers grants, fellowships, and scholarships to help fund participation in IFDS.
International Research and Exchanges Board ( IREX):
For over 40 years, IREX has been supporting research and exchange in Europe and Eurasia.
Institute for International Education (IIE):
Established in 1919, IIE has collaborated with governments, foundations, and other sponsors to create programs for students, educators, and professionals to encourage an international exchange of people and ideas. It oversees the Fulbright Program, Gilman Scholarships and, more recently, the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program.

The Fulbright Program awards approximately 8,000 grants annually to U.S. students and scholars, foreign students, and visiting scholars as well as several hundred teachers and professionals.
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD):
DAAD is a publicly-funded independent organization of higher education institutions in Germany that offers scholarships and grants to students, faculty and researchers. DAAD's goal is to facilitate transatlantic mobility to Germany for U.S. and Canadian scholars, therefore Germany must be a component of the intended academic travel. Funding is awarded on a competitive basis; they consider the academic merit of the individual, the feasibility and quality of the proposal, and the impact of the applicant and application as a whole.

American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF):
ASF is the leading cultural and educational link between the U.S. and Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. An American non-profit organization, the ASF works to build international understanding with an extensive program of fellowships, grants, intern/trainee sponsorship, publishing and membership offerings.

AAS is a scholarly, non-political, non-profit professional association open to all persons interested in Asia and the study of Asia. They award grants, fellowships, and prizes and also have an extensive list of other sources of funding for programs and research.

A number of guidebooks, foreign language tutorials, foreign movies and culture-specific resources are available in the Frank and Laura Lewis Library including access to Country Watch, a source that pulls together the most current news and information on each of the recognized countries of the world. The librarians are also ready to help you learn how to document your study abroad experience by lending their expertise in photography and video.
Programs and Activities
Every year, the Office of Global Engagement hosts Cultural Enrichment programs on topics related to international education. We are always looking for new programs or events and welcome the opportunity to partner with another department, office or organization.
